Hope in the Lord

Man's days are determined;
you have decreed the number of his months
and have set limits he cannot exceed.
Job 14:5

I heard on the radio today that there is a woman who lives in the country of Georgia (formerly of the USSR) who is celebrating her 130th birthday today. She was born in 1880! Imagine this woman's life. How she has seen the world change from year to year, decade to decade. She's outlived her parents and probably any children.

Then, there are friends of ours whose baby lived for 52 minutes outside the womb. Enough for a few breaths.

But, none of these lives come as a surprise to our all Sovereign God does it? ALL our days are ordained for us before even one comes to be. (Psalm 139). And we won't live one minute longer than God wants for us.

Yesterday, God called my mom's husband to his eternal home. A shock to us, but the party was ready in heaven (Psalm 116:15). The mansion Christ had prepared for Don was ready. Now his body and mind are perfect. I am sure he has already made many friends. Perhaps my dad and him have already sung praises together at the foot of the Throne.

Oh, how we ache for the future. Oh, how we cry out to the Lord for our strength.

How we hope, and hope only in the Lord.
