The cupcake didn't stand a chance
It was gone in less than 3 minutes...I guess Landon also inherited his mommy and daddy's sweet tooth like his sisters. Our dentist is going to make a killing off of us!

Happy Birthday!
Our little man is One! Time really flies when you are having fun (or life is too chaotic to have a still moment)! His one year appointment is tomorrow so we'll have all his stats (the thing his daddy likes to hear the most). He took his first steps on Saturday which was exciting. We had his one year pics yesterday and they turned out pretty good. He did not want to sit still for any picture! He was either trying to walk or crawl away. It was pretty funny, not sure what the photographer thought of it however. :)
Happy Birthday sweet boy, we love you very much!
Here's a very quick video of a few steps...will try to get a longer video some other time.

Wounded
What do you do when your sister bumps your nose (ever so slightly and there is no blood)? Put a bandaid on it, of course.

This kid is gonna keep my on my toes!
Yesterday, this is how Taryn came down after naptime. She came down the steps and confidently said "Dime do go do da pool, mommy." Yep, I guess so.

...and never trust 'em when they are quiet. This happened on daddy's watch...a mere 8 hours after the sugar incident. To Dan's defense he was putting Landon down to bed.

Grandma K
I have already told you that we enjoy being just a "short" drive from Dan's hometown. One of the main reasons we went up to see Dan's family on this past trip was because his Grandma was in town. She lives in the Pacific Northwest and was on a whirlwind tour visiting her kids who are scattered around the country. We hadn't seen his Grandma in about 7 years! It was sweet to be able to spend some time with her and introduce her to our kids. Grandma K is one very special lady. Besides the fact that she has 8 kids (7 girls!!), 26 grandkids and 29 great-grandkids (with 4 more on the way!), she is just cool with some serious spunk. She grew up in the generation where if you wanted something you either worked harder for it or did without. The stories of her life made this SoCal girl want to grow up on the farm milking cows, playing in hay bales and bringing lunch, excuse me, dinner, out to the men "in the field." But, her life hasn't been simple by any means. She lived through the Depression, watched her husband go fight in the Pacific during WWII, and many years later she sat by his side as Jesus called him home. She has rejoiced but also grieved with her children and grandchildren. Throughout it all she is a living testament of steadfast faith in her Savior. She makes a mean apple pie and loves a good Mariner's baseball game. I am so glad we were able to spend time with her! We love you Grandma K.

Never pay full price!
For those of you who know our friends the Farmers, you know "The Farmers never pay full price!" Well, being that Dan and I both come from Dutch families that has been our motto for generations. Which is why we LOVE Cr@ig's list. One of these days I will blog about all the things we have bought (and gotten rid of) off Cr@ig's list. However, with Cr@ig's list there are major drawbacks.
1) You have to search everyday for one thing that you are desiring hoping it's from a pet-free non-smoking human home.
2) Once you find this one thing you have to rely on a picture that looks like it was taken at the turn of the last century and are left to wonder if that dresser is truly white or maybe is it yellow? Meanwhile, you are distracted by the stuff that is surrounding said item and instead of focusing on a dresser you wonder when the last time the seller vacuumed.
3) You have to try to contact a complete stranger that may or may not be checking their email or voicemail. Even though if they list something on the Internet, you would think they would have access to the Internet.
4) Once that person checks his or her preferred way of contact you try and figure out a time to meet to see if that dresser truly is as white as you would like it to be and to make sure their definition of "lightly scratched" doesn't mean only 1 of their 4 cats used it as a scratching post.
5) Then comes the negotiating. Which I detest! I would rather speak in public in my underwear 4 weeks postpartum than negotiate. Besides the fact that I am very poor at it. My husband on the other hand...
6) Once the negotiating is done, you (or in my case, my husband) are the heavy-lifters, movers, deliveryman, and installation guy.
Hopefully, once all the above is complete, you can sit back and think about how much money you saved. You mean they actually paid full price for this?!
Or, you can be like me who blew it today over 10 bucks (see #5). $10!!! I really hope their neighbors are enjoying their "new" barstools!
Now it's back to #1. Bleh.
