Grandma K

I have already told you that we enjoy being just a "short" drive from Dan's hometown. One of the main reasons we went up to see Dan's family on this past trip was because his Grandma was in town. She lives in the Pacific Northwest and was on a whirlwind tour visiting her kids who are scattered around the country. We hadn't seen his Grandma in about 7 years! It was sweet to be able to spend some time with her and introduce her to our kids. Grandma K is one very special lady. Besides the fact that she has 8 kids (7 girls!!), 26 grandkids and 29 great-grandkids (with 4 more on the way!), she is just cool with some serious spunk. She grew up in the generation where if you wanted something you either worked harder for it or did without. The stories of her life made this SoCal girl want to grow up on the farm milking cows, playing in hay bales and bringing lunch, excuse me, dinner, out to the men "in the field." But, her life hasn't been simple by any means. She lived through the Depression, watched her husband go fight in the Pacific during WWII, and many years later she sat by his side as Jesus called him home. She has rejoiced but also grieved with her children and grandchildren. Throughout it all she is a living testament of steadfast faith in her Savior. She makes a mean apple pie and loves a good Mariner's baseball game. I am so glad we were able to spend time with her! We love you Grandma K.
