No Foolin'

From the lack of posting you would think that maybe life had turned upside down since Taryn's mishap. Thankfully, it hasn't. Spring break has come and gone, even though we are still waiting for spring to really make an appearance. We have visited family for a weekend, and have just carried on with the daily routine. So, in other words, I am without excuse. :)

I feel like I should be doing something silly on the blog since it is April 1st. But, I can't think of anything clever, witty or even shocking at the moment.  Because I think you would all know how I would feel if we were moving or adding more blessings to our family.  My roots are deepening and our quiver is full! No need to joke about any of that!! Thank you Lord!

However, fun fact about today, Dan and I are celebrating the 15th anniversary of our first date. What is kind of fun is that whenever we drive up to Dan's hometown we always pass by the McDonald's were we met to go out. No, he didn't take me to McDonald's (we're more high-class than that...more like Chic-fil-a kinda class). I was doing a round trip from Omaha to drop my sister off at the airport since she had come to visit me for the weekend up at school. I could be mistaken but I think I even borrowed Dan's car? Dan will have to correct me if I am wrong on that.  Maybe I shouldn't even mention it, because I think I still owe him for gas money.  Hee Hee.

Anyway, I had driven 2.5 hours down to Omaha and then drove 2 hours back north to where we met at the aforementioned McDonald's. So I had driven 4.5 hours before our date. Just thought about that. I bet I looked and felt awesome! :p I remember pulling up into the parking lot and Dan jumped out of the other car (we were going on a double date) where they were waiting for me. So I didn't even have time to freshen up in the bathroom! Nice.

He took over the driving and we went on to the restaurant... I think the name of it was Checker's? All I remember is that there were paper tablecloths (see? high class!) and he drew me a rose on it. Smooth. Then we went bowling. I think that was the only time in my life, before and since then, that I bowled over 100. I am absolutely terrible at bowling, I am usually there for the social aspect. Apparently, this time I felt as though I needed to prove something.  I know, I know, bowling over 100 isn't impressive. But, I guess, it helped win him over.

I do remember that I had loads of fun that night.  I had known Dan since our freshman year. Our college was quite small, so everyone knew everyone. He was always dating someone else, or I was dating someone else, or I was overseas. So there wasn't an opportune time to ask me out. But, when he did and we started dating I knew it was gonna be something. And, guess what? It was. It started out as an awkward first date on April Fool's day in 1999 between two college juniors, and has ended up being 15 of the best, most fun, fantastic years. And, that's no joke.

Taken on our first date...young love!! There are so many things that I want to say about this picture, but will refrain. I will say that Landon saw the picture and said "Look at daddy's hair!!! It's so pokey!!!"
