On Sunday night while the guys were watching the Super Bowl, and the ladies were waiting for the next commercial we started talking about sick kids. I said, "I feel blessed to have never had any stomach flu or any g.i. issues come through our house." The moms looked at me in disbelief, "you mean, you have never had any of your kids throw up?" "Nope," I said, "we've had colds but none of the yucky stuff."
Now, why did I have to go and say that? I should have just listened to the conversation and kept my trap closed. Because sure enough on Tuesday night while I was at bible study, Dan called. "Taryn is throwing up, what do I do." Honestly, I didn't know. "Get her off the couch and wrap her in towels!" I remember one of my friends doing that with her kids.
Thankfully she slept well last night and was in good spirits this morning. But after breakfast, another bout and again after lunch. Needless to say I only gave her some juice and pears for dinner.
So I'm not going to say that I hope the other kids don't get it. Nope, not gonna say it.
Wow, that's impressive (keeping the sick out, that is). Erin threw up quite a bit and Melody and I always seemed to eventually get it as well! Good luck! -Tim
ReplyDeleteThat's one thing I don't look forward to when I'm a parent ... I can deal with things coming out the other end, but throw up makes me want to throw up! Not good!
ReplyDeleteI hope it passes soon! Love you all (throwing up or not).
Oh, that is the plague we live in fear of. My sympathies, friend.
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice when they are old enough to tell you they are going to throw up or you set a pail by them and they take care of it themselves. We have had the flu go the round here. So much for flu shots. Can you say useless? I didn't get one.............oh oh, shouldn't say that huh Reb.

I can't believe you made it this far into the parenting thing without a throw-up experience! We were not that lucky! Of course, it doesn't help when some of your kids get car sick. :(

kids throwing up is the worst!
ReplyDeletenot fun for them or mom! :(
so many messes to clean up. And taking care of that throw up makes me gag. I just sit their head and saying "it's okay" or "your doing good" or "good job honey" while they puke. I remember mom saying that to me and for some reason i found it consoling to hear her say those things.
