This was, thankfully, on the OTHER side of our screened in porch this morning...
This thing is 4 INCHES long!
It kept the girls attention for awhile.
Now, I am not sure what is scarier to me, this HUGE bug or the fact that we are starting potty training today. Maybe I will ask this Praying Mantis to pray for me!
SWEETNESS!!!! That was my all time favorite insect growing up...even though I never saw one in Iowa. Iowa must be too far north, because this is the third one we've seen in Kansas.
I forgot to tell you I saw one a month ago in our ornamental grass when I was building the grass bin. I showed the girls and they thought it was cool.
I am not sure about the ecological requirements of the Praying Mantis, but I have a friend in Sunnyside, WA who has seen them there. So the latitude doesn't seem to be the only determining factor.
Yikes! On both the praying mantis AND the start of potty training...actually, having just recently experienced the potty craziness in our house, I'd have to say it scares me more!
I mean really, how many blog posts dedicated to poop can one girl write? Sheesh :)

I love that you used a ruler to measure it :).
