However, the book that I am trying to focus on the most is the book on the bottom of the stack The Bread Bakers Apprentice: Mastering the Art of Extraordinary Bread. It's part of a new venture I am starting out with some other friends across the country. My dear friend and the "Martha Stewart" in my life, BG at Famiglia Grande is the brains, er I mean the baker, behind the idea of Half-Baked Beauties. We are going to bake bread and blog about it...ala Julie & Julia (which is a fabulous movie by the way). Then why I am reading the book rather than baking the bread?! Well, apparently there is a lot that goes into making a loaf, and am I learning. There are formulas and ratios and all sorts of good stuff to know before I pull out my apron, but once I get through that part, watch out! There will be all sorts of leavening going on! I have until October 15 to crank out some Anadama bread. Better get reading and be sure to follow along!

Reading about bread
I usually try to limit myself to reading two books at a time. The first book is the Word of God and the second book is whatever fact or fiction novel, biography, autobiography etc. I have chosen for "fun" reading. Well, I have been slowly picking up books here and there that I want to read. Needless to say my nightstand is looking a little overwhelmed. I know there are some people who can read multiple books at a time but my slightly ADD mind can't handle things like that.

However, the book that I am trying to focus on the most is the book on the bottom of the stack The Bread Bakers Apprentice: Mastering the Art of Extraordinary Bread. Somebody is a library geek; however, I like the idea of reading up on food!!!
ReplyDeleteLet me just say that I will gladly be the recipient of any and all bread that you decide to bake! Let me know if you need my address... :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. I see a Jodi Picoult book there, too-- I LOVE her books!
i am with rachel, send over any bread samples, in fact, just send the whole loaf.
ReplyDeleteHey.....once you got that regular loaf figured out... Feel free to tackle and edible gluten-free kind... THAT would be awesome. My mom and I both can never eat good bread again... It's really depressing actually...
ReplyDelete(in a whisper) I didn't read all the pages and my bread still turned out yummy. I had to go back and read some of the pages as I was going through the recipe.
ReplyDeleteMy family loved the bread and we ate one loaf in less than 24 hours.
I will expect to be able to test it at Tgving. Probably by then it will be rolls. Way to go girl. Learning to bake bread is a good test in patience. :-) Waiting for it to rise was always my problem.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to some great bread at our Thanksgiving gathering!! :)
ReplyDeletefyi: Bread is one of my fav foods!
