Beds are boring

Every night before I go to bed I check on each kiddo. I love to look at them and hear them take in their little breaths. They look so peaceful and sweet as they innocently lie there and dream away. Sometimes I get overwhelmed in my duty as a mom to watch over these little lives. Motherhood is a high calling, friends. God has entrusted these lives to us and we are to lead them in the Way of understanding. No pressure or anything. I could go on, but that isn't what this post is about. It's about how I should be a better steward of our money. Because, if I were a better steward I wouldn't buy my kids beds in the first place. Specifically, I wouldn't buy a bed for Landon.

A little bit of background: Each night the bedtime routine is pretty much exactly the same. We change into p.j.s, go potty, brush teeth, read Bible story and say our prayers. The kids could probably recite that routine back to you. Yet, for our little Landon, once his door closes and the lights are off, it's party time for him. As long as he stays in his room and doesn't bother mommy or daddy, that is fine with us. Other than some books, there isn't any thing up there for him to play with or get hurt by. So when we go up to bed we really never know how we are going to find him. For the last few nights I have documented this trend...

In the morning, I asked Landon why he went to sleep under the bed and he said is was because he was a snake. :)

And for the grand finale:

Landon has a vanity in his room, nothing is in it and we learned the hard way to keep the water turned off. This is how we found him one night. To make it even better the doors to the cabinet were closed. Thankfully, I had seen him playing in the cabinet earlier in the day, otherwise, we would haven't known where he went! Surely this can't be comfortable!

Apparently, as long as this little guy has his monkey...he can sleep anywhere!

Sweet dreams buddy!

  1. One thing you didn't mention is how he has gotten so heavy/big that I now have to put him back in bed every night. He is a chunk...I wouldn't be surprised if you have another post about me requiring back surgery.

  4. Wow, he has not changed his routine. By the way if you share his room when visiting, you need to do a walk through before you leave the room. He has been known to find my meds, lipstick and etc out of my suitcase even when it is closed. Very inquisitive little rascal. Under the sink is a new location :-)

  9. Cute. Who say's he has to be put back in his bed? I usually cover the kids with a blanket where I find them and leave them there. :) - Sarah K.

  11. So cute! How does he sleep like that? At least adjusting to college shouldn't be a problem.

  12. These were so funny. They reminded me of my J1 when he was a little guy. I love the snake pic. Makes so much sense!

  13. Hope he keeps his ability to sleep anywhere.....that is a life skill that I would trade for many things! Just might be a little weird for his wife someday if she finds him under the vanity ;0)

  14. Xander is just like that too; however, I can't say that he has ever slept in the cabinet in his bathroom. Currently, he has a twin mattress on the floor instead of a bed for that reason. He'll get a bed frame before he goes to kindergarten. :)
