Some minor surgery

Each of my kids have their own special "lovey." That one stuffed animal that they can't live without. Their companion in good times and bad. Their ultimate source of comfort. Well, my mom gave Landon the cutest little monkey. The problem with this monkey is it has a long tail. This long tail is Landon's favorite part. He doesn't need a pacifier when this tail will do just fine. However, this tail never seemed to dry and consequently it had quite an odor. You know the kind of smell that a washcloth gets when it's been used one too many times and really needs to visit the washing machine. That's what this tail smelled like. No matter what I tried the smell would not go away. It culminated this past weekend when we were at my mother in law's place. She too tried a variety of cleansing and drying methods to get this tail to smell better. No luck. The inevitable had to happen. Just as a leg needs to be amputated because of gangrene so too the tail had to go!

Warning: This is not for the squeamish!

Monkey after!

Someone said we should just get rid of the monkey, but this video is proof as to why we just couldn't do that.

  1. LOL I guess you didn't miss the passy you left at my house. ;) Did you have to sew up the end of the monkey tail afterward? The princesses are precious.

  2. That is exactly how "Stinky Monkey" got his name! By the time James turned 18 months he stopped sucking the tail....hopefully Landon's Monkey will make it that long!

  6. Man, he's already making that dazed expression that Dan used to make. You know, the one that looks like he just woke up. :) Hilarious. He's getting big!

  7. How did Landon like the short tail? At least now it won't spring back into itself (the tail, I mean). It was definately time to go. It actually stunk up my washing machine when it was in it. Phewwwwwwww

  9. It was only recently that I noticed the satin edging on Xander's blanket looking a little rough. I didn't think that washing it would make it look the way it did, and I was right. He has basicly eaten the satin part to shreds.
