There and back (Part 3) with a little birthday party

While we were on our vacation, a certain sweet little guy turned the big "3."  I am afraid that his birthday may be like my youngest sister's birthday.  It never failed that when we were on vacation, my sister Rachel would have her birthday.  We would then celebrate it where ever we were...which was often in the middle of some state or national park.  Rachel's birthday even fell during our family reunion in Maine 2 years ago.  So as tradition would have it, we celebrated in our little cabin and her "birthday cake" was Hostess cupcakes with matchsticks for candles.  Even though we weren't roughing it on our trip, I did throw together an impromptu party for Landon just so he wouldn't think we ignored his special day.  Thankfully, we did have some good friends to help us celebrate.

Considering which cupcake to choose. It's a big decision!

His new "Lightening the Queen" car--Can you tell the poor boy has two older sisters? ;)

Happy Happy Birthday dear Landon.  Your daddy and I love seeing you grow into a little boy.  You often remind us that you are a big boy now and need to do big boy things.  You constantly keep us on our toes and often make us laugh...even when we want to pull our hair out.  God has given you a strong personality that we pray you will use to do great things for your Savior.  We pray your big heart will show others your love for Jesus.  You are a sweet little man and we all love you so much no matter what you get into next.

  1. I LOVE the picture where he's trying to decide what cupcake to choose! It looks like he's contemplating his next move on a chess board.

I think my many birthdays celebrated while on vacations is why I never make a big deal of my birthdays, since the most I got at home was a cupcake and a matchstick. :-) Good memories though!

Your kids are all getting so big ... here's a <<<<>>>> across the miles.

  5. He definitely wears his emotions on his sleeve/face, which makes it hard for Rebekah and I to keep from laughing sometimes. By the way, the cupcakes had cars on top, which magnified the decision. Picking the first matchbox car has been a serious decision for many decades for many boys. Add to that, which cupcake has the most frosting...the word dilemma just doesn't do it justice.
