Lego Obsession

It's hot here.  At 9:30 this morning it was 85 degrees with 70% humidity.  It's hot and it's humid.  Nothing like walking outside and feeling like you have a hot, wet blanket wrapped around you.  Such a wonderful feeling.

So, what have we been doing?  Staying inside and more staying inside. Actually, since I last blogged a month ago we have done some pretty fun stuff.  We went to Idaho for a super cool family reunion.  Maybe I should post about that.  My mom came out to visit and we repainted the Master Bedroom.  Maybe I should post about that too.  Next week.

When my mom came out we did go to LegoLand Discovery Center where Annika was able to relish in her current obsession...Legos.  Just like your average 7 year old, um, girl? Apparently, "Barbies are boring." That's our little engineer for you, totally has her daddy's mind. Which, by the way, I was  reminded of when while at LegoLand I was attempting to make a pathetic little race car for Landon and I had to ask a 10 year old boy how to keep the wheels on.  Yeah, totally not my thing.  Anyway...Legoland was inspiration for Annika.

Union Station and Downtown

Taking a Master Builder Class with Grandma.

Since then we have now been consumed with two things: Legos and the Olympics.  So it would only be fitting that Annika put the two together.

Last night we watched some "gym-ba-nastics" (that's how Taryn says it...I know she's 5 and I should correct her but it's quite cute) and Annika laid awake last night thinking about Lego Olympics.  When she woke up this morning, this is the first thing she did:

Floor Exercise
The Vault
The Balance Beam

The High Bar

This is why for their Daddy Daughter Date this weekend they will be checking out the new Lego Store that opened up in the mall near us.  I did remind Dan that the American Girl store is right next door just in case Annika wants to turn girly on us. ;)

  1. How fun! Wow, those were good Lego creations, Annika! I'm impressed. Definitely much better than I could do.

Those Lego versions are about all the Olympic action I've been getting ... should have cleared my schedule so I'd be able to watch stuff! Guess that's what the Internet is for.

    Love ya!

  2. I don't know what makes me more happy...the fact that she isn't enamored with girly dolls, or that she is so detail oriented :)!

    Oh yeah...GO USA!
