Without really even trying, the theme for this birthday was heavy machinery. On Sunday, Dan took Landon out of Sunday School (yes, our 4 year old played hooky) and spent a few hours at a local "Touch A Truck" Event. If the perma-smile didn't give it away, I think he was a bit excited!
He got to climb all over fire trucks, ambulances, combines, Humvees, tractors, payloaders, you know, the stuff little boys dream about! Since he wants to be "like Uncle Dan" when he grows up, this was more than he could ask for.
For his birthday cake I got the inspiration from here. Once I saw this cake, I knew it would be perfect for Landon. Our version turned out pretty cute. Annika, our resident engineer and smarty pants, thought of upside down candy corn to use for the traffic cones. Yes, I had some left hidden in the back of my pantry...they were "Indian corn" from the Autumn Mix so those aren't my favorite (does anyone like those anyway? Ahem, Kamber. :))
To say that Landon keeps us on our toes is an understatement. I really wish that on my kids' birthdays they would be on their best behavior. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case with Landon. He had to try my patience a few times that day, but really in the end he's a sweet lovable little guy with a curious mind and busy hands. He cracks me up with his comments and endless chatter.

Landon, you drive me nuts, but I am still crazy about you. Besides, with your coy smile and mile-long eyelashes, it's hard to stay mad at you for long!

Mommy and Daddy love you so much!! Happy Birthday to our sweet boy!

It was fun going with just Landon to "Touch a Truck"...especially when I saw other parents trying to handle multiple kids and tell them to be patient in 45 minute lines...it was a mad house! Not so with my little buddy. He is great when you can pay attention to him 100% of the time ;). We had a blast...great idea mom!
