We closed on the house on Thursday night! Yeah! We have had our stuff in temporary storage since we moved here. The movers came bright and early on Friday to move it all into the the house. It was strange walking into a totally empty house which was now ours. After looking at so many, this one was the one. Now it's on to unpacking! Auntie Anna came out to help, she thought she was coming for a vacation...ha ha fooled her!
On Friday night, Anna and I painted the only room in the house that needed painting before we moved in. No Sophies in this family! Thanks to all of you who made comments about their new room, we will keep you updated...
I ignored the grunt from Dan as he carried me over the threshhold on Saturday morning.
Warning: Trees were killed in the packing of our belongings. Dan's company paid for packers. Boy, are they ever sure that nothing gets broken! If you have ever had packers you know what I mean. All my tupperware was even wrapped up! Guess you can never be too careful.
It kept the girls occupied for awhile.
My kitchen is under there somewhere! The only real moment of chaos was right before we were heading back to the apartment with the girls for naptime. We couldn't find Taryn's bear. Anna and I looked all over the house. Then the realization hit us. Do you think? Yep, we had cleaned up all the paper and stuffed it all into boxes and guess who we found after we took out all the paper? A little tan colored (VERY similar in color to the paper) "bee-bee." Oh the tragedy if we would have lost him!
We are hoping to pack up the apartment and totally move in on Sunday night...Anna leaves on Tuesday...any volunteers to help unpack?! Kansas is beautiful this time of year. However, I am not sure how much of the outside you would see. :)
I *love* the picture of the girls in all that paper!
ReplyDeletePainting Sophie's room reminds me of the TLC Moving Up show, when the new owners gleefully paint over the old owner's walls. Hmmm one day we will be there!
ReplyDeleteHave been thinking of ya'll this weekend. Glad it's going well. Lovely home!
ReplyDeleteWow, the painting is so neat :) And the paper pics are hilarious, I mean we know exactly how that looks and feels :) Glad you're moving in and going to get settled soon. Looks beautiful so far!
ReplyDeleteHooray, sista! SOOOO glad you have your place called HOME, not apt. I so wish I could come and help. If only I were single with no kids, I would be there. Love you and love organizing. Creepy, huh? The latter, that is. ;)
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are in your own home again. I'm sure lots of memories will be made there and lots of laughs will be shared. Anxious to see it some day!
ReplyDeletei love your comment about ignoring dan's grunt as he carried you over the threshold! that's so nice that anna could come help. landon- what a cutie!!! love the cheeks! wow, that is a lot of paper! even tupperware? they might have a paperwrapping addiction there?

ReplyDeleteHi Eekhoffs! Yay for your new house and getting moved in! Unpacking is just so much fun, isn't it? It was quite a process for us-- can't imagine what it's like with 3 kids around! I love reading your blog and seeing what you guys are up to-- so glad you are closer to Iowa now! Any NW Iowa plans for Christmas? :)
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a lot of paper! Makes for fun pics though :o). Sorry I missed your call yesterday, I'll call you soon (my mom's in until Sun.). Miss you & love you though! Know your missing Anna already. Hope y'all had a great visit.
ReplyDeleteSara Grace has been telling me almost everyday lately that she "really misses Annika". I only cry half of the time when she says it...That's progress right???
I love the kitchen picture with the girls and all that packing paper! You'll have to show us the after picture of the girls room once you get everything painted and the matching bedding put together! Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteIs this really true? Temporary housing was still a huge comfort for me...not final or something. Good choice on painting over the girls room - can't wait to see it when it's done. Very cleverly not showing the paint color in that picture. I'll call you soon friend!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're doing well girl! Can't wait to hear how you guys are doing :)
