I need some new music! Considering all I have been listening to lately is "Wee Sing Sunday School Songs," I feel a little out out touch. So I am reaching out to my blogging community for some advice!
Here's the question...If you could bring just one C.D. to a deserted island which one would it be?
good question! at work i go to pandora.com and type in taylor swift. it comes up with music that it think i'll like considering i like her. i'm curious to see what other replies you get :)
ReplyDeleteOn my not so deserted island it would have to be an IZ CD. You know, he is the guy that sings the Somewhere Over the Rainbow song to an island beat.
ReplyDeletewell... 'a fine frenzy' is my favorite mellow music, as for christian 'third day revelation' is good and my favorite christian hymn cd is 'roots run deep' by jadon lavik. i have all of these so if you can wait 2 weeks i can burn them for you!
ReplyDeleteI recently discovered Lindsay Kane for some good fun, girl Christian music. Other than that, I got nothin'. I'm in the same boat.
ReplyDeleteI was going to suggest going to Pandora.com as well. That is a pretty cool website. It exposes me to artists I never knew before, but yet play music that I like!
ReplyDeletemy Fernando Ortega hymns CD that has "Give me Jesus" or any CD by Travis Cottrell. I'd have to get my praise!
ReplyDeleteI also need to put a plug in for this week's White Horse Inn show entitled "The Courage to be Protestant" which has a great interview with David Wells. Very worth listening to for ALL OF YOU! (I really mean that, it isn't because I work for them, honest!). The previous two weeks' shows were great as well talking about Christianity and Politics with Reformed Christians on both sides of the political aisle.
ReplyDeleteGo to http://www.whitehorseinn.org - great stuff!!
I promise this will be my last comment for a while!! You can also listen to the Westminster Seminary California chapels on-line or via podcast. This morning's message by Dr. Hywel Jones was awesome (it should be posted in the next day or two). Nobody preaches the Gospel like Dr. Jones!
ReplyDeleteAll of the chapel messages have been great this semester and you won't go wrong with any of them.

My favorite artist is Dave Barnes -- his Chasing Mississippi CD is amazing. But other favorites include Brooke Fraser for mellow, Lady Antebellum for some country, and Third Day for Christian. Lifehouse is good too. As for the desert island question, that's too hard to answer. I'd bring a mixed cd with a little of everything. :-)
ReplyDeleteLately.....
ReplyDeleteSecular - Colbie Caillat
Christian - Caedmon's Call
Christmas music because it's coming :0)
I really love Third Day's latest CD called Revelation - Toby Mac's Portable Sounds and as always I would need some Bonjovi!! :)
ReplyDeleteI know we've never met, but I am Dan's first cousin out in Washington State...and I LOVE Chris Tomlin, who has just released his CD called Hello Love. It's great, check it out!
ReplyDeleteHey all, thanks. I like the pandora site. I can't get very good reception in my office so it works great. Good question Reb. It is always surprising what will get people's responses.
ReplyDeleteI have two good CDs to listen to with your kids so you don't go crazy. First is Jazz for Kids, which includes Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Prima, and Louis Armstrong. The other is You Are My Little Bird by Elizabeth Mitchell. Lena loves these CDs, and James and I actually enjoy listening to them, too!

This is of course assuming that we would have a battery operated cd player of some sort to listen to when we get there right?
ReplyDeleteCan I opt for a fully loaded iPod instead.... that way I can have a little of everything - kinda like a mix tape only WAY better!
I know leave it to me to be the difficult one ;).
I mentioned a couple of days ago about Dr. Jones' WSC Chapel message from Tuesday Morning. Well, that has just been posted on the WSC Audio Page.
ReplyDeleteHis text was Gen. 2:8-17.
Listen and be edified!!

IN FACT I love it so much I wish I had enough $$ to send all my friends & family this cd. Every hurting person I've met I've wanted to give it to. For encouragement
Don't know if you guys are American Idol fans, but a couple years ago Chris Sligh was a contestant. He's got a really good (Christian) album out now. Also, there's a group called downhere - I have one of their albums...reminds me a little of a Christian U2. --Ryan
ReplyDeleteHey Eekhoff's! Hope all is well! Saw your post and had to respond. You can never go wrong with any of the many Rascal Flatts CDs, they're great and they're "kid friendly." Another group I love is Anberlin. They have a rock-ish sound to them...kind of hard to explain. They're on Tooth and Nail Records (a Christian label), so they're a band made up of Christians, not really a "Christian Band" though if that makes sense....Anyway, they just put out a new album (New Surrender) but ALL of them are amazing and DEEP!!! Enjoy and take care...we miss ya'll!

for the girls, we're doing a lot of Psalty, and "Hide em in your Hearts" steve green. As for my deserted island CD...Hillsongs all the way. I LOVE Darlene Zchech(I think that's how you spell her name)and an mp3 of the song by Mandisa called, "God Speaking"
ReplyDeleteI still haven't found my Christian music niche but I would bring Nicole Nordeman's Brave CD OR, get this, Phantom of the Opera Soundtrack. My favorite music, though, is more hip hop, like Under my Umbrella (Rihanna), clean (obviously) Justin Timberlake and Gwen Stefani songs.
ReplyDeleteHey girl, Congrads on the house! Can't wait to hear what you decide about the bedding:)I was just introduced to Plumb at the mops convention. I had never heard of her but her new cd is very good:)My favorite is of course Avalon but I think that is just because my friend sang with them up until last year so I had a reason to love them:)I like music with a good message and they offer that!
ReplyDeleteI know you don't know me, I found you from someone else's blog..I can't even recall whose it was,,,oh, that's sad, I really need to find something to do. Anyhoo, I would take the Chris Tomlin CD 'cause he writes the best praise and worship music!
ReplyDeleteHi Rebecca! Thanks to Dan's laziness in not posting pictures on facebook, I found your blog. :) We have loved listening to various Putamayo cd's the past few years. They have cd's from music around the world...for both kids and adults. World Playground, Mali, Music from the Coffeelands, Italian Cafe...so many choices. Our entire family loves listening to both the kid and adult cd's that we have. We also love Jack Johnson and Over the Rhine. Hope your transition to a new community is going well!
