I definitely do not have the green thumb in the family. My husband's got that. I don't think I have the patience or the attention span. You mean, I plant the seeds and then we have to wait until
when?! I'm an instant gratification kinda gal. My husband on the other hand finds it therapeutic. After a day's work he likes to go out and fiddle with the garden, I just get to reap the rewards. There is nothing like a garden fresh tomato!
I asked Annika what it takes to make a garden grow. She said, "God needs to send rain and sunshine. Also a garden needs love." We've got plenty of that around here!
I hope to show the progress of the garden so here are some pics of Dan getting the garden plot ready. He is going to try raised bed gardening this year. We'll see how it grows! :)
Tilling up the ground...the tiller didn't really do a good job, so he ended up doing a lot of it with a shovel.

The rectangular boxes that you see on the side will surround the plots.
In the picture with the kids, I love that Annika is just above the railing, Taryn is just underneath it and Landon is just trying to stand up.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the garden, Dan! I have a great lawn that's looking for some love if you want to head over my way!
In a month from today I'll be in California! Can't wait to see you there too!!!
WOW!! What a week to work outside. I really hope the weather holds for Dan to work. Looking good! And now I'm glad I have knowledge of where it's going.
ReplyDeletelove you and thanks for the comment today!

I want to do raised beds too...let me know if weeds stay out of there any better than a regular garden. Man, gardening would be so much more fun without weeds and you should see the monster weeds out here! Good thing my hubby talked me into putting our "garden" behind a shed where nobody can see it. I got plans for a GREAT garden someday tho!

Tell Dan there is NO way I can keep up with him now. A tiller is way out of my league. I am so jealous of all of you and your screened in porches. If we ever get to a place where we have a pressure treated deck again I want a screened in porch!
ReplyDeleteLook out here comes the corn and tomatoes ;).
ReplyDeletehis tomatoes on our last visit were my entire inspiration for gardening at all. Go Brother!
ReplyDeleteLove it Dan. I am jealous. I would love raised beds for a garden. Are they on the side of the house? I read it is important to suppose the corners good (although I am sure you researched them before you started :-)) Thanks for the post Reb.
