It was only 6 1/2 years ago...

that I ran the Marine Corps 1/2 Marathon followed by the Army 10 miler just a few weeks later. Shout out to R who can talk anyone through the miles. Well some wild hair climbed up my you know what and I decided to run another one. Crazy, yes. But I needed something to get me motivated to get this baby body in shape (even though I argue that these love handles give the little ones something to hold on to). So the other day I signed up for the KC 1/2 Marathon on October 17. It's a little ways away but I figure the 7 months will give me time to ease into my training. Before I can start training, I need to get the gear of course. You know, the cute running clothes, the great shoes, etc. This is where y'all come in. Remember way back when I asked y'all to help me out with some music? Well, I need your help again. I need a "Running Playlist" on my Ipod. What songs get your blood pumping and get you motivated to burn some calories? Come on you know "B**tylicious" or "Eye of the Tiger" has a way of inspiring you, so don't be shy!

  1. Yay for running! I have a six miler coming up on Saturday, so if you'd like to join me, fly on over and I'll meet you at 7:30am! Looks like we'll be doing some running in Maine!

As for music that I listen to ... Third Day's new CD, Revelation, is actually great running music. Then I have random soundtracks, Need To Breathe (I burned that for you when I was out for Christmas) ... I don't have much workout music since I use it pretty much to just get me moving and distract me just enough to get through the miles.

Love ya! Remember, running is all about great shoes! Don't skimp on the shoes!
    Have Fun!

  2. I believe I've made my love for Bootylicious clear. I don't know running music, because it's against my religion, but I find that Justin Timberlake has a good driving beat in all his stuff that's good for working out in general. And some britney. But running? You're on your own.

  4. "Stronger" by Kanye West is one of my favorite running songs and I'm also a fan of Jimmy Eat World's "If you don't, don't". Those beats are nice for my jogging pace!;) JT has some good ones and also Madonna's newer stuff. Listen to me, I sound like I run all the time, oops! I need to get back into it - you're inspiring me! Want to come up and run the Tulip fest 5 or 10K? There's a sioux center triathalon May 2, head this way!

  6. Probably a little too hard for your taste, but Smashing Pumpkins, "Geek U.S.A." from the Siamese Dream album. Really good for strength training runs.

If you want to be lame, go with "Life is a Highway" (can't remember the artist but I know he's Canadien). Less lame, but still on the highway theme, "Interstate love song" by Stone Temple Pilots. Better for a long run with rhythm. Honestly though, for a full album for energy, it's tough to beat ol Green Day's Dookey. Classic and gets you going.

  7. Isn't like us girls to always get the cute outfit before we fell we can do the exercise thing? Old Navy just had a bunch of cute workout/yoga clothes on sale at their store a few weeks back FYI. Oh and I don't know what you are talking about being out of shape Ms. skinny thing - you don't even look like you had three kids for heaven's sake!

Oh and about the motivational music I would recommend
    Church (feat. Teddy Verseti)
    Low (feat. T-Pain)
I know, I know, they are off of the Step Up 2 movie cd but they really do qualify as "B**tylicious."
