The day after...and how we spent Valentine's Day :)

Whew! This is a close one. Back in January, I said one of my goals this year is to post once a week. Just to be clear it's once a week meaning Sunday to Saturday...not, once every 7 days.  Just in case you were looking for a loophole in my goals for 2014. NOT that I was or anything.  Regardless, I barely squeaked this post in.

Remember how last Thursday I took a mental health day? It was really refreshing not to mentally worry about whether or not beds were made or if the house was picked up.  And, by the way, I failed to take a picture of the basement...boy, was that a doozy!  I don't usually pick up my girls' rooms but I do try to make their beds everyday, just for my own personal sanity.  On Thursday, none of that happened. I just closed the doors and walked away.

But, just like when you go on vacation, you come back to work that didn't take care of itself.  So what did our "day after" look like?

None of the kids had school so my minions special helpers were around to help. I have to say they did a fantastic and pretty complaint-free job.  When you dangle a full hour of uninterrupted electronics time as the carrot, they tend to move pretty fast. They definitely earned each minute.

The end results...

I need to give credit where credit is due, Dan was actually the one that made our bed.
Happy Valentine's Day to me!

My kiddos showed their Valentine's love to me by doing such great jobs!! Told them over and over how proud I was of them and their teamwork.  At one point, Annika asked if we could erase each job when we were done with them.  I said, "No! Cross them off so at the end of the day you can see all that you accomplished!"  And, we accomplished a lot.

And just in case you thought I was the meanest mama ever by making them work on Valentine's Day, I did make some extra special pizzas for dinner. :)

Ahh, my mental health day was great, but having a clean house does feel really good.  Even if it only lasted until 11:30 a.m. the next day.

    1. They were playing "office" downstairs with our old computer keyboard and monitor downstairs. :) yep, simon messed around with the nook...not sure if it was the full hour. Thankfully he can't tell time. :)
