January Birthday #3...finally!

Our birthday month is over. 3 weeks of chocolate cake sounds wonderful doesn't it? Until the last day of week three and you catch yourself saying, "Cake is so overrated." Blasphemy! Thankfully our next birthday isn't until June, so I have a feeling my taste for chocolate cake will come back before then. Like maybe by tomorrow.

So, Taryn, or "T" as she is affectionately called around here, turned 7 on the 31st. When I look at her I still see this:

But, in reality, and because I can't make time stand still, she looks like this:

To make her birthday week even more fun for this rambunctious 7 year old, she finally lost two teeth! She has been waiting, and waiting, and waiting, like, forever, to lose some teeth. Now she feels even more grown up. :)

The other night I was talking with friends about when our kiddos were babies.  I said how Annika was the model child. Sleeping through the night (7 p.m.-7a.m.) by 9 weeks of age. Perfect nurser, napper, all the good stuff.  This meant, of course, that Dan and I were perfect parents. Then Taryn came along and drop-kicked us off our Perfect Parent Pedestal.  She didn't sleep, cried constantly, nursed horribly and was basically "that baby" for the first 7 months of her life. It's amazing we had more kids. :P

From when she was a toddler (who walked at 10 months) to now a first grader, she's had spunk.  You never know what she's going to say... just the other night, with perfect timing as I was walking out the room, she asked "Mom, when do boobies get bigger?" Oy-vey! Annika was mortified! Not Taryn. Got a question? Ask it!

Yep, get the point shoes ready, we'll be on our toes with this one. I wrote this post for her 2nd birthday, and, to be honest, not much has changed! She's task-oriented and competitive. She's a lover of all things girly but will be ready and willing if there is a wrestling match somewhere.  She wants to do her best, and is hesitant to try something if she doesn't think she will be good at it.  But, when she's mastered something, there's no stopping her! She's a hugger and a snuggler...helps that she weighs close to nothing. She's an all-around feisty little sweetheart.  We love her a lot!!

Happy Birthday T...praying for many many more!!

Endnote: Going through past posts about her birthday, I realized she has asked for the same meal for the last 5 birthdays-- her favorite mac-n-cheese. Despite her being a flyweight, the kid can pack it away!

  2. Where have the years gone!! I, too, still see her as one of your babies! Love her personality and her energy; I'm anxious to see where it takes her. :)
