9 Years ago Dan's dad got us a vacuum cleaner for Christmas. It was a great little vacuum. It was a "commercial grade" vacuum so it had great power and the cord was LONG! In VA, I could just about vacuum our whole 3 story town home without having to unplug. In the new house, I can get the whole top floor and about 1/2 the 2nd floor before I have to unplug. It's lightweight and simple (kinda like me! :) ) Well, the other day Dan was vacuuming and he said, "I think it's done." "The vacuuming?" I replied. "No, the vacuum," he says back.
Yep, I think "done" is a good word for it. So, I guess I'm shopping for a new vacuum. Any recommendations? Right now, I am looking at the Oreck XL. I am not sure about the bagless vacs that are out there. I like the idea of vacuuming without having to clean out any sort of canister, so I really don't mind having to replace vacuum bags. Do you really love your vacuum, or maybe you really hate your vacuum? I would love to hear about it!!
I guess I'm just so ripped that I don't know my own strength. Btw, I am an excellent vacuumer.

ReplyDeleteit!!!!! It is amazing being able to see the junk you pick up, seriously after I vaccuum the house I have to empty the canister everytime because of how much it picks up! Makes me wonder how I ever went months without changing my bag vaccuum. The model I have is a little heavy, but they do offer them in light weight models.
I was going to suggest a Dyson, even though we don't have one. I wanted you to get one and tell us how it was, but Heather already did that (I think she likes hers...)
ReplyDeleteThe nice thing about bagless is that if you accidentally vacuum something up it is easy to see and retrieve.
where did dave get the first one? they may still sell them.
ReplyDeleteWe have had bagless vaccuum cleaners at the ready mix and I didn't like the mess emptying them. Everyone I know who has had a Dyson loves theirs. I'm too Dutch to spend that much on a vaccuum and I really don't mind changing bags. Happy vaccuum shopping!
ReplyDeleteI just got an Oreck XL - American Heritage Vacuum from QVC about 2 weeks ago...I love it. This one does have a bag. It is not fancy, but has a long cord and is light. That is very important for use on stairs!!

We bought a SEBO three years ago and I have to say I love it. I didn't think I would like having a cannister vacuum but it is so light, picks up well, you push a button and the cord is sucked up so no more wrapping up the cord. The bags are so easy to change out. It comes with

ReplyDeleteIt comes with a lifetime warranty for the belt, and is easy to store since all the attachments are stored inside the top of the vacuum. Good luck shopping it is worth the time researching and money to get a good one, we went through three vacuums before we got that message!
I have an Oreck XL too. As you know it's light which is what I like. The bagless one's gross me out. I really don't want to see what I suck up.

ReplyDeleteSad to admit, but I am a vacuum junky. I have a 3 story house, so we own a few to avoid carrying up and downstairs. I own a canister dyson and the oreck at the moment. The oreck is not my favorite - it doesnt get in tight spots and the canister that comes with it is low quality. I like the dyson alot, but... my favorite until it died and I replaced it with the dyson was the higher end kenmore canister. I really miss it and will buy one again when the dyson dies.
