Just a little bit of glue

Does anyone know what this is a picture of? I will give you one hint...it has everything to do with my last post.

If you guessed that it's the outcome of being married to an engineer who is also Dutch then you are right! Most people would've taken one look at our poor little vacuum and donated it to the local landfill, but most people aren't my husband. He took one look at our poor little vacuum, and thought to himself "Self, you are a smart and handy man, I think you can fix this."

Sooo...some liquid nails (a not too distant cousin to duct-tape), two bolts and Wah-lah! our vacuum is no worse for the wear. We'll see if it will hold up another nine years! In the meantime, I will keep your vacuum reviews and recommendations in my back pocket, JUST in case.

  1. That's perfect. Think about all the money you've saved. Rock on Dan!

  2. He sounds like my husband. Our A/C broke when I was pregnant with Wesley and Chris actually said, "I am a smart guy. I can fix the A/C." He did and he saved us a lot of money.

  3. Grandpa Van Schepen would have pulled out the epoxy. But I do see a new vacuum cleaner in your future!

  4. Oh brother are you a true son of your father. Not only would he have fixed it but if he couldn't have fixed it, he would have kept it for parts for something sometime, somewhere. After all you never know when you will need a psrt off an old vacume cleaner, right? Hope it last for awhile, might even be stronger than when it came from the factory.

  5. So my question is, "What kind of fix it guy is he?" One who thinks he can fix stuff or one who actually can?" My dad, thought he could fix things, but not really. My Dan actually can fix most things.

  6. The pic is terrible! I don't like to be messy like that, but better safe then sorry, the kids were running around, and you never see that part of the vacuum anyway. I think I'm more offended by my mother-in-law "I do see a new vacuum cleaner in your future"...WHAT...you don't trust my fix?! I just couldn't let a great vacuum go the way of the buffalo b/c the design engineer was lazy in his failure point analysis.

  7. The first pic - I thought it was peanut butter smeared over something! :)

My vacuum is still running strong. I hope it doesn't die - I do like the long cord!
