Then Sunday came. We had been checking the forecast and saw the chance of thunderstorms. We waited until the very last minute, and decided to call it off. Thunderstorms with rain and lightening doesn't make for a very good time in a tent. So, what to do?
Camping in the basement! Otherwise known as "Dan and girls sleep in the tent while mom sleeps upstairs in her bed." As excited as the girls were for camping, this was a good compromise. As long as there are still going to be cinnamon rolls in the morning. :)

Camping inside = Easy pack up for Daddy + Not so easy to get up off the floor after a night in just a sleeping bag!
ReplyDeleteFavorite question of the night:
Taryn - "Why can't we have a fire inside (in the basement)?"
Annika - "because it will cause an emergency!"
Good thinking Annika, that would cause a bit of an emergency for sure :) I grew up camping too and loved it and wish it just wasnt as much work as a grown up :) seems you have to pack your whole house up...ha. although i want to give it a try again now that i am not prego anymore and without a baby...i may enjoy it a little more...looks like you guys made the best of it!
ReplyDeleteA few weeks ago we had to leave after camping only one night because of a high wind warning. The kids were most disappointed to miss the second night of s'mores. So we did them in the microwave and the kids were happy. I am sure they would have been even happier to sleep in the tent in the basement with Daddy.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it. Especially the part about Mommy up in her bed! Your plans for camping sound very much like our plans...close to home, and borrowing before buying. Our plans fell through for Mem. weekend too, but no tent in basement for us!
ReplyDeleteThis will be the camping trip they will always remember! You are great parents!
