Just a bit of rain

We've been getting a lot of rain lately...our rain gauge which holds 5 inches of rain is overflowing. Great for the trees we planted! Today we had a good Kansas Thunderstorm. Taryn thought it was time for bed at 11:30 a.m. because it was so dark outside. But, then again, she is always looking for an excuse to put her p.j.'s on.
Dan standing in the river of rain in our backyard (His feet are totally submerged past his ankles).

Here is a bit of video...for some reason some of the shot didn't get recorded. It could be because I forgot to press record, just maybe.

This weather makes for a great day to stay inside and watch a bit of World Cup. Go USA!!

  1. Our rain gauge actually goes up to 6 inches, and I empty it every week on Monday night. That way I know if I have to water my new trees. That means that since Monday we have received over 5 inches of rain, and I even emptied it in the middle of the rainstorm today! I actually turned on the sprinkler system this week for the first time this year...we hadn't received any rain for a week, so I thought I would see if it still worked! It worked, but that day we received 3 inches...guess it didn't need it :). Not having to really turn on your sprinkler system until July has got to be a record!

Btw, my word verification is "gollatis"...ironic, beings that I had a little of that watching the Yanks take on the Brits today!
