When we were younger, my mom, my sisters and I would go shopping and come home with such great deals. We would add up what we would have spent if we would have paid full price (who does that anyway?), and then add up what we actually saved. Hundreds, I tell you! We are true bargain shoppers. However, I don't seem to find as good of deals when I am by myself. When the VP girls are all together it seems like the bargains just appear as if by magic. We each have a good eye for bargains, but when its all 4 pairs of eyes put together-Watch out!
For the past year, I have been really getting into coupon clipping. Groceries are a necessity and those necessities were really adding up in the budget. So out came the scissors and coupons. Clip, clip away. The site that I usually depend on is becentsable.net. It's a favorite for sure. All in one website are the blogs for Target, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens and then my local grocery store. The hard work is done for me. It's a different system for clipping coupons where I actually don't clip until I need the coupon. I will put my inserts (I usually get 2 Sunday papers) in my big old divider and get ready to save! I also use online coupons through different websites and the actual manufacture's websites.
My inserts filing system:
The problem with this is it takes time. I need a good quiet nap time to get all things together. But, by being aware of sales, coupons, etc. I can plan my menu for the next 2 weeks and stock up when things are really cheap. Today I spent naptime getting my list and menu together. I am hitting the store tonight (without kids) with the hopes of saving about $65 in coupons alone. (Not including price-matching and any sort of store incentives like gift cards, extra care bucks, etc.).
What favorite money saving tips do you have? Share them with a comment! I would love to hear them.

ReplyDeleteHowever, i am thrilled to find a bargain when shopping so we do have that in common :)
Reb,
ReplyDeleteI use happyhomemakercindy.com. She does the same thing in the Dayton Area. I am not as die hard as she is, but I am saving money. My Dan would agree with your Dan about $$. Not spending is better than buying something on sale.
Oh my dutch friend....this blog just made me dog gone happy!! John thinks it's funny that after any purchase I make I always tell him how much I spent - LOVE deals! Inspired by your coupon filing thingy....I may give this kind of system a try. Currently all my coupons are in an envelope labels "coupons" and half the time I forget what's even in there.
