Favorite Things February #20 & 21: Family and favorite meals (Part 2)

Well, I knew it would happen at some point this month, I forgot to post yesterday! I can blame it on my #20th favorite-having fun with family! Playing games, sharing meals, and just having an all around good time.
My 21st favorite, is another favorite meal tradition. Sunday afternoon pancakes. This started back when we were attending a young families class at our church in Virginia (A shout out to all the other Pathfinders out there!) which started at 8. We would go to our class first, then church and then home. When we got home it was around 11 and we weren't in the mood for a big lunch. So, we decided to just make pancakes. Since then the time we get home has gotten later, but the pancakes for lunch has still stuck. It's quick and easy and the kids will eat it without complaint. We are home at around 12:15 and are usually done with lunch by 1. Then it's off to nap time with some full tummies.

As a side note, tomorrow we are starting an egg and milk elimination diet for our little Taryn. Of all the kids, we have had the most problems with her and eczema. We are going to see if egg and/or milk are the culprits. For the next 4 weeks, no eggs and no milk or the many other forms they take. Anyone up for some water and saltines? I guess I will be on the lookout for some egg and milk free pancake recipes! If anyone has any to share be sure to pass it a long. Our Sunday afternoon naps will thank you!

  1. Hi friend....someone here just said that goat's milk soap cures the ezcema rash - I've had 2 other people agree bc Emma has just a little on her legs. On the look out for egg/milk free pancake recipe!

  2. Oh I feel for you on the egg and milk free diet! It's in EVERYTHING!! We made it for two weeks last year on that diet and found out that Landon is allergic to milk (causing eczema also). Now he drinks soy milk and we limit his dairy intake to the evening meal only... cheese is in everything too! He has very few breakouts now and when he does we use a really good lotion. If you have any questions about our journey feel free to call! -Joy

  3. Hey! Just wanted to put something out there... I had psoriasis all my life, until the day I cut gluten out. If the milk and egg thing doesn't work, going wheat-free is worth a shot. Better to find out when she's young. It's rough going off "the wheat" as an adult. :)

  4. You're eliminating a major food group of Taryn's: cereal!! Good luck! I've cut out dairy from my diet over the last year and have noticed my skin is better ... but agree with the others, it is in everything. But you just get used to checking labels because it sneaks into everything (esp. a lot of processed foods). I hope it helps our little Taryn! Love you!

  5. My little guy is just going back on to dairy (casein) after being off for 19 months. And not a lick of the ezcema is back - HIP HIP HOORAY. I pray the same goes for sweet Taryn.
